Selection Procedure
1. Merit List Preparation
- Selection is purely merit-based.
- Merit list is prepared trade-wise using the percentage of Matriculation (10th) marks.
- Minimum 50% aggregate is mandatory.
- All subjects of the 10th exam are counted.
- Tie-breaking:
- Older candidate (earlier DOB) gets priority.
- If DOB same → candidate who passed 10th earlier gets priority.
2. Document Verification (DV)
- Candidates are called for DV in the ratio of 1.5 times the vacancies (trade-wise).
3. Final Merit List
- Prepared trade-wise & category-wise equal to the number of slots.
- Reservation rules applied (SC/ST/OBC/UR/ESM/PWD).
- Unfilled seats:
- OBC → filled by UR
- SC ↔ ST inter-filling
- If still unfilled → UR
- Unfilled ESM → filled by other candidates
4. Medical Examination
- Final selected candidates must:
- Pass document verification, and
- Be medically fit as per Apprentices Act rules (certified by Railway Medical Doctor).
