Application Fees

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit for applying for JET for Assistant Professor and admission in Ph.D.

Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) 2025 – Educational Eligibility:

• Candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Minimum Marks:
  • Unreserved / EWS: 55% aggregate
  • Reserved categories (Jharkhand only): 50% aggregate
• Ph.D. Holders: Candidates who completed their Master’s degree by 19 September 1991 get 5% relaxation, i.e., minimum 50% for unreserved candidates.
• Final-Year / Result Awaiting Students:
  • Can apply provisionally if awaiting results.
  • Must complete Master’s with required marks (55% for UR/EWS, 50% for reserved) within 2 years of JET result.
• Subject Requirements:
  • Candidate should appear in the subject of their Master’s degree.
  • If the subject is not listed in JET, candidates may choose UGC-NET / UGC-CSIR subjects.
• Foreign Degrees:
  • Must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
  • The foreign degree must be recognized as equivalent to an Indian Master’s degree.

Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET) 2025 – Exam Pattern & Selection Procedure

1. Mode and Structure of the Exam

• Exam Mode: Pen-and-paper based OMR sheet exam.
• Papers: 2 compulsory papers.
• Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) for both papers combined.
• Breaks: No break between papers. All questions are compulsory.
• Medium: Hindi and English (English version is final in case of ambiguity).

2. Exam Pattern

Paper I	100	50	Teaching & Research Aptitude: reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
Paper II	200	100	Subject-specific knowledge: based on the candidate’s chosen subject.

3. Marking Scheme

• Marks per Question: 2 marks each.
• Correct Answer: +2 marks.
• Incorrect Answer: No negative marking.
• Un-attempted Questions: 0 marks.
• Ambiguous/Incorrect Questions:
  • If a question is ambiguous, credit is given to those who attempted it correctly.
  • If a question is invalid and dropped, +2 marks are awarded to candidates who attempted it.

4. Selection & Result Criteria

• Eligibility for Assistant Professor / Ph.D.: Based on aggregate performance in both papers.

Minimum Aggregate Marks Required:

• Unreserved (UR) / EWS: 40%
• Reserved Categories (SC/ST/BC-I/BC-II/PwBD): 35%
• Total Qualified Candidates: Equal to 6% of total candidates appeared, allocated according to Jharkhand reservation rules.
• Result: Published on the JPSC website. Candidates are not individually informed.
• Re-evaluation: No re-checking or re-evaluation is allowed.
