Eligibility Details

  • Must have a Law Degree (LLB) from a recognized university.
  • Must be registered as an Advocate in a court at the time of final appointment.

Selection Procedure

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)

  • Objective type exam (MCQ).
  • Paper I: General Studies – 100 marks
  • Paper II: Law – 150 marks
  • Duration: 2 hours each paper
  • Questions in Hindi & English
  • Marks are not added to final merit
  • Around 10 times vacancies candidates qualify for Mains

2. Main Examination (Descriptive)

Total 8 papers (3 hours each)

Qualifying Papers (Marks Not Counted in Merit):

  • Hindi – 100 marks (Minimum 30 required)
  • English – 100 marks (Minimum 30 required)

Merit-Based Papers (Marks Counted):

  • General Studies – 100 marks
  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 – 150 marks
  • Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 – 150 marks
  • Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 & CPC 1908 – 150 marks
  • Constitutional Law – 150 marks
  • Other Laws – 150 marks

3. Interview

  • Total 100 marks
  • Around 2.5 times vacancies candidates called
  • Interview is mandatory

Final Selection

Final merit list is prepared based on:

  • Main Exam marks (excluding Hindi & English)
  • Interview marks

Tie-Breaking Rule:

  1. Higher Main Exam marks
  2. Older candidate gets preference
  3. If still equal, name order in Devanagari script
