Selection Procedure – Subedar / Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam 2025

Phase I – Preliminary Written Examination

  • Conducted by: Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board (MPESB)
  • Nature: Computer-based test (Objective Type / MCQs)
  • Marks & Duration: 100 marks, 2 hours
  • Negative Marking: None
  • Subjects: Hindi, English, Analytical Ability, History, Geography, Science, Civics, Computer Knowledge, Logic, and Current Affairs
  • Selection for Main Exam:
    • Candidates up to 10 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted based on Percentile Score.
    • Candidates scoring equal to or above the cut-off percentile are called, even if the number exceeds the 10x limit.
  • Note: Marks of the Preliminary Exam are not counted in final merit.

Phase II – Main Examination, PPT, and Interview

1. Main Written Examination

  • Structure: Two papers held in separate sessions.
  • Marks: Each paper 300 marks (Total 600 marks).
  • Duration: 2 hours per paper.
  • Paper I:
    • History & Indian Society (150 marks)
    • Governance, Constitution, Politics, Social Justice & Legislation (150 marks)
  • Paper II:
    • Current Affairs, Technology, Economy, Environment & Internal Security (150 marks)
    • Logic and Data Interpretation (150 marks)
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.

2. Selection for PPT and Interview

  • Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) are shortlisted based on the Main Exam percentile/marks.
  • Category-wise cut-off percentiles are fixed for UR, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories.

3. Physical Efficiency Test (PPT) & Document Verification

  • Mandatory Test: 100 marks total (details provided separately).
  • Minimum Qualification: 30% marks required to qualify.
  • Events: 800m Run, Long Jump, and Shot Put.
  • No Exemption: No relaxation or rescheduling allowed for any reason.
  • Document Verification: Conducted after PPT; all original certificates must be produced.

4. Interview

  • Eligibility: Only candidates who qualify in PPT and have verified documents.
  • Marks: 50 marks (Personality/Interview Test).

Final Merit List & Appointment

  • Final Merit: Based on total marks from
    • Main Examination – 600 marks
    • PPT – 100 marks
    • Interview – 50 marks
  • Appointment: Only after successful Character Verification and Medical Examination by the District Medical Board.
  • Medical Check: Includes height, chest (for males), vision, and general fitness (no knock-knee or flat foot).
  • Character Verification: Any false or misleading information will lead to disqualification.
  • Probation: Selected candidates will be appointed provisionally for 3 years and must complete the prescribed training.
  • Tie-Breaking: If marks are equal, the older candidate is ranked higher.
