How to apply for UPSC Civil Services / Forest Services Exam 2026

  • Apply only online at https://upsconline.nic.in
  • No offline application is allowed
  • First complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the UPSC portal
  • After OTR, you will get a Universal Registration Number (URN)
  • Login with URN to fill the application form
  • Fill the Common Application Form (CAF) and the exam-specific details
  • Choose exam preference: CSE, IFoSE, or both
  • IFoSE candidates must apply through the CSE Preliminary Examination form
  • Upload a recent passport-size photograph
  • Capture a live photo during the application process
  • Upload scanned signature (signed 3 times on white paper with black ink)
  • Upload scanned copy of a valid Photo ID proof
  • Use the same Photo ID at the examination center
  • Pay the application fee online
  • Fee: ₹100 for General/OBC/EWS
  • Fee Exemption: SC/ST/PwBD/Female candidates – No Fee
  • Payment can be made through Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI
  • Last date to apply: 24 February 2026 up to 6:00 PM
  • After final submission, no correction is allowed
  • Application cannot be withdrawn after submission

📌 UPSC Selection Procedure & Exam Pattern – CSE and IFS

The selection process has two main stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination – Common for both CSE & IFS
  2. Main Examination + Interview – Different for CSE and IFS
