Selection Procedure

• Selection is based on a merit list.
• Merit is calculated as the average of marks in the Matriculation (10th) Exam (minimum 50% marks) and the ITI Exam in the notified trade. Both exams carry equal weightage.
• Candidates can choose more than one workshop/unit as per their preference.
• Allotment is done based on merit ranking and unit preference. If the first choice is not available, the next preferred unit is considered.
• Document Verification (DV) is conducted at Gorakhpur for provisionally selected candidates. Candidates must bring:
  • Copy of online application
  • Medical certificate (prescribed format, authorized doctor)
  • Four passport-sized photographs
  • Original certificates/testimonials and photocopies
• DV schedule will be published on the NER website. No individual call letters are issued, but SMS/email may be sent.
• Apprenticeship training begins at the allotted unit after DV.
• Important points:
  • No travel, lodging, or food allowances are provided for DV.
  • Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible.
  • Completing apprenticeship does not guarantee permanent employment in Railways.
