Eligibility Details

1. Educational Qualification:

  • Must have at least a Second Class Master’s Degree in any one of the following subjects:
    • Economics
    • Statistics
    • Mathematics (with Statistics as a paper)
    • Commerce (with Statistics)
    • M.Sc. (Agriculture) in Statistics
  • Degree must be from a recognized university in India or an equivalent foreign qualification.
  • Must have an RS-CIT certificate (conducted by RKCL and awarded by Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University, Kota)
    or an equivalent certificate recognized by the Department of IT & Communication, Government of Rajasthan.

2. Experience:

  • Should have at least 1 year of experience in handling official statistics
    in a Government Department, reputed commercial organization, or University.

Exemption from experience:
Candidates are not required to have this experience if they:

  • Hold a first-class Master’s Degree or Doctorate in any of the above subjects, or
  • Have completed 2 years of training in Statistics at a recognized Statistical Institute or University, or
  • Have completed a 1-year Diploma Course in Statistics/Economics from a recognized University or Institute, or
  • Belong to Scheduled Castes (SC) or Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories.

3. Language and Cultural Knowledge:

  • Must have a working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script.
  • Must have knowledge of Rajasthani culture.

Selection Procedure for RPSC Statistical Officer

1. Competitive Examination

a. Exam Pattern

  • Total Marks: 150
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Number of Papers: One
  • Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes

c. Syllabus:
The detailed syllabus will be provided to candidates by the Commission in due course of time.


2. Rules for Answering & Negative Marking

  • Each question has five options (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
  • It is mandatory to select one option for every question.
  • Answers must be marked on the OMR sheet using a blue ballpoint pen.
  • Negative marking applies:
    • 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
    • If a candidate does not wish to attempt a question, they must darken circle ‘5’.
    • If no circle is darkened for a question, 1/3 mark will still be deducted.
  • Extra 10 minutes will be given at the end to ensure all questions have one circle darkened.

3. Disqualification Rule

  • If a candidate leaves more than 10% of questions blank (without darkening any circle), they will be disqualified.

4. Post-Examination Process

  • After the exam, shortlisted candidates will be called for Document Verification (DV) and/or Interview based on merit.
  • If the number of applicants is very high, the Commission may first conduct a Preliminary or Screening Test.
