Selection Procedure for RRB Section Controller Recruitment
1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Nature: Screening test.
- Duration & Questions: 120 minutes, 100 objective-type questions.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Normalization: Applied if CBT is held in multiple shifts.
- Syllabus Overview:
- Analytical & Mathematical Ability (60 Qs): Maths (Algebra, Time-Speed-Distance, Ratio, Geometry, Probability, Statistics, Data Interpretation).
- Logical Ability (20 Qs): Reasoning, Puzzles, Reading Comprehension.
- Mental Reasoning (20 Qs): Analogy, Series, Coding-Decoding, Ranking, Arrangements.
- Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS: 40% | OBC-NCL: 30% | SC: 30% | ST: 25%
- PwBD: May get up to 2% relaxation if required.
- Shortlisting for CBAT: Top candidates up to 8 times the vacancies will be shortlisted.
2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Who Appears: Candidates shortlisted from CBT.
- Vision Certificate: Mandatory in prescribed format (Medical Standard A-2).
- Language: Questions only in English & Hindi.
- Qualifying Marks: Minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery (no relaxation).
- Negative Marking: None.
- Weightage in Merit:
- CBT = 70%
- CBAT = 30%
3. Document Verification (DV)
- Merit List: Based on combined CBT (70%) + CBAT (30%) scores.
- Tie-Breaking:
- Older candidate gets higher rank.
- If age is same → alphabetical order of name.
- Documents: All originals + 2 self-attested copies must be submitted.
- Absence: Missing DV = rejection.
- Certificate Language: Must be in Hindi/English or translated copy.
4. Medical Examination (ME)
- Standard Required: A-2 (high standard).
- Fitness Requirements:
- Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses.
- Near Vision: Sn 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
- Must pass: Colour, Binocular, Night & Myopic Vision tests.
- Not Eligible: Candidates with Lasik or other corrective eye surgeries.
- Appeal: Medical appeal allowed once, decision final.
Final Selection & Appointment
- RRB recommends names to Zonal Railway.
- Offer letters issued after verifying vacancies, eligibility, and character/antecedents.
- Selected candidates undergo training and may need to sign a Surety/Indemnity Bond.

How to Apply for Section Controller Recruitment (CEN No. 04/2025)
- Apply Online Only through the official RRB websites (beware of fake sites).
- Create an Account
- Use the link on RRB websites.
- If you already have an account from CEN 2024/2025, use the same login.
- Need valid mobile number & email ID (cannot be changed later).
- Identity Authentication (Advisory)
- Prefer DigiLocker or Aadhaar for faster verification.
- Other photo IDs will face stricter checks.
- Fill Application Form
- Login and enter all details carefully.
- Choose exam language (English, Hindi, or 13 regional languages).
- Apply to only one RRB (multiple applications = rejection).
- Check eligibility from Vacancy Table & Post Parameter Table before finalizing.
- Live Photo Capture
- Take a live photo using webcam/mobile camera.
- Wear dark clothes, neutral face, no cap/mask/glasses.
- Printed/digital photos not accepted.
- Upload Documents
- Signature: Black ink on white paper, cursive handwriting only (not block letters).
- JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB, clear and centered.
- SC/ST Certificate (if free train pass needed): PDF, <400 KB, valid & latest.

- Scribe Option (if applicable)
- Eligible PwBD candidates can opt for a scribe.
- Candidate must arrange their own scribe.
