BSF Constable (Tradesman) Selection Process
1. First Phase: PST & PET
- Physical Standard Test (PST): Height and chest measurement as per category
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
- Male: 5 km race in 24 minutes
- Female: 1.6 km race in 8.3 minutes
- PET is qualifying only
- Ex-servicemen are exempt from PET
- Pregnant women (12 weeks or more) will be temporarily unfit and re-tested after delivery
2. Second Phase: Written Examination
- Mode: OMR-based or Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Total Marks: 100 (Objective MCQs)
- Duration: 2 hours
- Subjects:
- General Awareness / General Knowledge – 25 marks
- Elementary Mathematics – 25 marks
- Analytical Aptitude – 25 marks
- Basic English or Hindi – 25 marks
- Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS/Ex-Servicemen: 35%
- SC/ST/OBC: 33%
3. Third Phase: Documentation
Candidates must produce original and photocopies of all documents:
- Educational certificates
- Caste certificate (valid as per the Central Government list)
- Domicile certificate or PRC
- Trade certificate and work experience (if applicable)
- NSQF Level-1 certificate for Cook, Waiter, and Water Carrier
- Incomplete or unverifiable documents will lead to disqualification
4. Fourth Phase: Trade Test
- Required for: Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Sweeper
- Not required for: Cook, Waiter, Water Carrier, Carpenter, Plumber, Painter, Electrician, Upholster, Pump Operator
- Trade test is qualifying in nature and carries no marks
5. Fifth Phase: Medical Examination
- Detailed Medical Examination (DME) for fitness, vision, physical condition, and tattoos
- Review Medical Examination (RME) allowed for those declared unfit in DME, if appeal submitted within 24 hours
- RME decision is final
- Pregnant female candidates (12 weeks or more) will be temporarily unfit and re-tested post-delivery
Final Merit List
- Based only on marks secured in the written examination
- Prepared State-wise, Trade-wise, and Category-wise
- Tie-breaker: Older age first, then alphabetical order of name
- No waiting list will be prepared

- Qualifying all stages does not guarantee final selection
