- Master’s Degree in Statistics or Mathematics or Economics from a Recognized University
Selection Procedure
- Preliminary Exam (Screening Test)
- One paper: General Studies (150 marks, objective type)
- Marks not counted in final merit
- Used for shortlisting for the Main Exam
- Main (Written) Exam
- General Hindi: 100 marks (Qualifying, 30% required)
- General Studies Paper I: 300 marks
- General Studies Paper II: 300 marks
- Optional Subject (Stats/Maths/Economics): 300 marks
- Total marks considered for merit: 900 (excluding Hindi)
- Interview
- 120 marks
- Final Selection
- Based on marks in Main Exam (900) + Interview (120) = 1020 marks total

How To Apply For BPSC District Statistical Officer DSO Recruitment 2025
- Step 1: One Time Registration (OTR)
- Visit the official BPSC website: www.bpsc.bihar.gov.in
- Click on “One Time Registration” or “New User Registration”
- Enter your Email ID and Mobile Number
- Verify both using OTPs sent to your phone and email
- Once done, you’ll receive a unique OTR ID
- Step 2: Create Your Profile
After OTR, log in to complete your profile. Fill out the following sections one by one:- Personal Information – Name, DOB, Gender, etc.
- Address Details – Permanent and Correspondence Address
- Other Information – Caste Category, PwD status, etc.
- Qualification Information – Details from 10th class onwards
- Experience (if any) – Work experience details
- Upload Photo and Signature –
- Photo: Around 20 KB (recent, clear)
- Signature: Size 150–220 pixels
- After each section, click Save and Next
- Once done, click Lock Profile (You can’t edit after locking)
- Step 3: Apply for Advertisement No. 38/2023
- Go to the “Apply Online” or “Active Advertisements” section
- Find the District Statistical Officer / Assistant Director post
- Click Apply
- Your details will auto-fill from your OTR profile
- Review all information carefully
- Make any additional entries if asked and click Submit
- Step 4: Pay the Application Fee
- Proceed to pay the fee online (Net banking / Debit / Credit card)
- Fee structure:
- General / Other Category: ₹600/-
- SC/ST (Bihar), Female (Bihar Resident), PwD: ₹150/-
- Biometric Fee (extra ₹200/-) for SC/ST, Female, PwD
- For others, biometric fee is already included in ₹600/-
- Note: Fee is non-refundable
- Step 5: Final Submission & Print
- After successful payment, your application is complete
- Download and save a copy of the filled form and payment receipt
- Do not send any hard copies or documents to BPSC
- Keep the printout safe for future use (like admit card or interview)
