Selection Process & Exam Pattern

1️⃣ Preliminary Examination (Pre-Exam)

• Type: Objective (MCQ based)
• Purpose: To shortlist candidates for the Main Exam
  (About 5 times the total vacancies will be shortlisted)
• Subjects Covered:
  • General Studies
  • General Science & Mathematics
  • Mental Ability (Comprehension, Logic & Reasoning)
• Pattern:
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Marks per Question: 4
  • Negative Marking: -1 mark for wrong answer
  • Total Marks: 600
  • Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Medium: Hindi & English

2️⃣ Main Examination (Mains)

Candidates who qualify in the Prelims can appear for the Mains. It has two papers:

📄 Paper 1 – General Hindi

• Total Questions: 100
• Total Marks: 400
• Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
• Qualifying Paper (Minimum 30% is required)
• If less than 30% is scored, Paper-2 will not be checked

📄 Paper 2 – Subject Test

• Subjects:
  • General Studies
  • General Science & Mathematics
  • Reasoning Ability
• Total Questions: 150 (50 per section)
• Total Marks: 600 (200 per section)
• Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
• All sections are Objective Type

📝 Total (Paper 1 + 2):

• Total Questions: 250
• Total Marks: 1000
• Combined Duration: 4 hours 30 minutes
