Eligibility Details
- Must have a Law Degree (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Must be registered as an Advocate in a court at the time of final appointment.
Selection Procedure
1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)
- Objective type exam (MCQ).
- Paper I: General Studies – 100 marks
- Paper II: Law – 150 marks
- Duration: 2 hours each paper
- Questions in Hindi & English
- Marks are not added to final merit
- Around 10 times vacancies candidates qualify for Mains
2. Main Examination (Descriptive)
Total 8 papers (3 hours each)
Qualifying Papers (Marks Not Counted in Merit):
- Hindi – 100 marks (Minimum 30 required)
- English – 100 marks (Minimum 30 required)
Merit-Based Papers (Marks Counted):
- General Studies – 100 marks
- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 – 150 marks
- Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 – 150 marks
- Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 & CPC 1908 – 150 marks
- Constitutional Law – 150 marks
- Other Laws – 150 marks
3. Interview
- Total 100 marks
- Around 2.5 times vacancies candidates called
- Interview is mandatory
Final Selection
Final merit list is prepared based on:
- Main Exam marks (excluding Hindi & English)
- Interview marks
Tie-Breaking Rule:
- Higher Main Exam marks
- Older candidate gets preference
- If still equal, name order in Devanagari script
