Eligibility Details
- Candidates must have passed 10th (Matric) from a recognized board and hold a Diploma in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from a government-recognized institute.
- Must possess a valid HMV driving license that allows driving both LMV and HMV vehicles.
Selection Process for the Post
- The selection consists of two stages:
• Written Examination
• Interview
• Final merit will be based on combined marks of both stages
1. Written Examination
- There are three objective-type papers (MCQs), each of 2 hours duration and 100 marks
- Total Marks: 300
• Paper I – General Studies
- Full Marks: 100
- Syllabus includes:
• Mental Ability
• Modern Indian History (focus on Bihar)
• Geography (especially Bihar’s rivers)
• Indian Polity and Economy (with focus on Bihar’s planning and industries)
• National and International Current Affairs
• General Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
• Government Schemes (like NREGA, Bihar’s industrial and agricultural policies)
• Paper II – Choose One Option
- Full Marks: 100
- Option A: Motor Vehicles Act and Allied Law
- Option B: Automobile or Mechanical Engineering (Diploma Level syllabus)
• Paper III – Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and CMV Rules, 1989
- Full Marks: 100
- Covers Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989
• Important Points
- Candidates must qualify Paper I and Paper III
- If either Paper I or III is not qualified, Paper II marks will not be considered
- Candidates who qualify all three will be eligible for the interview
2. Interview
- Total Marks: 150
- Only candidates qualifying the written exam will be called for the interview
- The interview evaluates practical knowledge, experience, and specialization
• Interview Mark Distribution
- Practical Knowledge: 100 marks
• Identifying defects in LMV, HMV, two-wheelers
• Knowledge of repair, maintenance, and operation - Experience: Maximum 25 marks
• 3 marks for each additional year beyond 3 years of required experience - Specialization in Automobile Engineering or Post Diploma: 25 marks
3. Final Merit List
- Written exam marks will be converted to 450
- Interview carries 150 marks
- Final merit list will be prepared out of 600 marks
- If two candidates score the same, the older candidate will be given preference

How To Apply For BPSC Motor Vehicle Inspector Recruitment 2025
- Visit the Official Website
- Go to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) official site: https://bpscpat.bihar.gov.in/
- The application process is completely online.
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR)
- Visit: https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in/OTR
- Click on “New User Registration” or “OTR”
- Fill in your basic details like name, mobile number, and email ID
- After registration, you’ll receive a User ID and Password via SMS and email
- Keep these credentials safe; check your spam folder if email is not received
- OTR is mandatory for all BPSC exams and needs to be done only once
- If you already have OTR, use your existing User ID and Password
- Create Your Profile (after OTR)
- Step 1: Personal Information – Enter name, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, Aadhar number, reservation category, disability status, NCC, and ex-serviceman details. Click “Save & Next”
- Step 2: Address Information – Fill permanent and correspondence addresses. If same, select “Same as above” and click “Save & Next”
- Step 3: Other Information – Mention any pending criminal case or departmental action, if applicable
- Step 4: Qualification Information – Enter details of 10th, 12th, and Diploma (Automobile/Mechanical). Choose correct options from dropdown menus
- Step 5: Experience Information – Fill job experience, designation, pay scale, and duration (if applicable)
- Step 6: Upload Photo & Signature
- Photo size: max 20KB, 250×250 pixels
- Signature size: max 20KB, width 150–220 pixels, height 20–100 pixels
- Upload both, tick the confirmation checkbox, and click “Save and Submit”
- Note: Once submitted, the profile cannot be edited
- Apply for the Advertisement & Pay Application Fee
- Log in with your User ID and Password
- Go to the “Online Application” section
- Click on “View Advertisement” or “Check Advertisement Criteria”
- Click “Apply” for the relevant post
- Proceed to the “Payment” section and complete the payment
- After payment, click “Submit & Pay Fees”
- Go to “My Account” > “Application Form Print” to download or view your form
- If payment fails, retry or cancel and re-apply
- Ensure your application status is shown as “Submitted”
- Important Points to Remember
- You cannot edit your application once it is submitted
- Once the fee is paid, the application cannot be cancelled
- No hard copy of the form or certificates is to be sent by post
- All documents must be uploaded online and will be verified during the interview
- If you are claiming work experience, the certificate must be submitted by July 3, 2025
- A confirmation SMS/email will be sent after final submission
- Incomplete or unpaid applications will not be accepted
