Eligibility Criteria For UPPSC Assistant Professor 2025
A. General Qualifications (Most Subjects)
- Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PH) in relevant subject from a recognized university.
- Must have cleared NET/CSIR NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar body.
- Ph.D. holders (as per UGC 2009/2016 regulations) are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
- Candidates registered for Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 are also exempted if:
- Ph.D. in regular mode.
- Evaluated by 2 external examiners.
- Open viva conducted.
- 2 research papers published (1 in refereed journal).
- 2 papers presented in UGC/AICTE/ICSSR funded seminars.
- Certificate from Registrar/Dean confirming compliance.
- NET/SLET/SET not required if subject is not covered by these tests.
B. For Drawing & Painting / Music (Gayan, Vadan-Sitar, Vadan-Tabla)
- Candidate may also qualify as a traditional/professional artist with a Bachelor’s degree, if they:
- Trained under a reputed Master/Artist.
- Are an ‘A’ grade artist of AIR/Doordarshan.
- Can logically explain and teach theory with examples.
Relaxations
- 5% marks relaxation (from 55% → 50%) at Bachelor’s/Master’s level for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy), and differently-abled candidates.
- Additional 5% relaxation for Ph.D. degree holders who completed Master’s before 19 Sept 1991.
Important
- Candidates appearing in final exams of required qualification are not eligible.
- All qualifications must be possessed before last date of application.

Selection Procedure – Assistant Professor, Govt. Degree College Exam 2025
1. Online Application
- Candidates must apply through the commission’s website using One Time Registration (O.T.R.).
- O.T.R. number should be generated at least 72 hours before submitting the application.
- Application is valid only after payment of fees.
2. Preliminary Examination
- Objective type written exam.
- Negative marking: 0.33 marks deducted for each wrong answer. Multiple answers = wrong.
- Minimum qualifying marks:
- SC/ST: 35%
- Other categories: 40%
- Around 15 times the number of vacancies will be called for the Main Exam.
- Exam date and center will be mentioned on the Admit Card.
3. Main (Written) Examination
- Only candidates qualified in the Prelims can apply.
- Separate application form and fee required:
- General / EWS / OBC / Other States: ₹225
- SC / ST of U.P. / Ex-Servicemen: ₹105
- PH candidates: ₹25 (processing fee only)
- DFF, Women, Players of U.P.: Fee as per original category.
- Candidates must use the same roll number from Prelims.
- Hard copies of application form, mark sheets, and certificates must be submitted when asked.
- Minimum qualifying marks:
- SC/ST: 35%
- Other categories: 40%
4. Interview
- Interview will carry 25 marks (or as per govt. rules).
- Final merit list will be based on Main Exam marks + Interview marks.
5. Final Selection
- Selection depends on the combined score of Mains and Interview.
- Reserved category candidates can be placed in the unreserved list only if they have not used any relaxation/benefit at any stage.
6. Post-Selection Formalities
- Document Verification: All certificates must be shown on the given date, otherwise candidature will be cancelled.
- Medical Examination: Mandatory fitness test.
- NOC: Government employees must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer.
- Date of Birth Proof: Only High School (or equivalent) certificate will be accepted.
Important
The commission can cancel candidature at any stage if a candidate is:
- Ineligible, overage/underage, or unqualified.
- Providing false or incomplete information.
- Involved in malpractice.
